Trihalomethanes are a group of organic compounds containing carbon atoms, hydrogen atoms and three halogen atoms. The most common halogens in water are bromine and chlorine. (Figure 1) gives the four common trihalomethanes formed during the chlorination of water chlorination: chloroform (tris
