《雅典的泰门》从出版以后就引起了各方的争议,特别是针对该剧的完整性存在巨大的争议,各种质疑也是不断地涌现。针对这些争议,我们倾向于接受莫理斯·查尼(Maurice Charney)的观点,就是该剧的文本并没有最终完成,但是该作品已经具备了概念上的完整性,它的故事架构、人物描写、语言特色以及戏剧处理都具有了一定的完整性。伴随现代文学批评理论的成熟和完善,对于该剧的解读也更加丰富。
Since its publication, “The Gate of Athens” has aroused controversy among all parties. In particular, there has been a huge controversy over the completeness of the drama.
