This paper argues that this point of view ignores the possibility of highlighting the metonymic target meaning, which is not comprehensive considering only the prominent source of metonymy. At the same time, it points out that the merit target prominence is also established. As the main manifestation of the mechanism of metonymy, but also the fundamental purpose of people to use the cognitive means of metonymy. The highlighting of origin and the highlighting of the target are mutually supportive, which jointly promote the realization of metonymy.
