The city of Samarra, which is included in the World Heritage List and the World Endangered Heritage List, is the site of a fiery Islamic capital that has ruled over more than a century the passage from Tunisia to Central Asia The various provinces of Abbasid Empire. It is located 130 kilometers north of Baghdad across the Tigris River, 41.5 kilometers from north to south, width from 4 km to 8 km range. The site proves to be innovative in architecture and art, with an influence throughout the Islamic and other parts of the Islamic world. The 9th century Grand Mosque and Babel, one of the many architectural wonders of the site, 80% of which remain to be discovered.
