本文论述的系统结构及其产品的继承性是指:怎样确立某种富有长远开发价值的系统結构及其产品,怎样留有长期渐进、扩充性能的余地,以及怎样发展继承性。系统结构及其产品的继承性,可以使历代软件资源继续得到有效应用,便于迅速形成与发展计算机工业生产体系,能使计算机系统不断适应用户的新需求,以越来越短的周期获得新发展,有助于开拓新应用领域以及器件、设备的发展应用。这对确立新一代计算机系统结构也提供了极好的经验。本文着重从系统结构角度,追溯系统结构及其产品的继承性的形成、发展和经验,评述发展与竞争策略。最后评述这种继承性的意义与影响。论述时,以IBM公司的系统结构为背景。
