At the turn of the spring and summer of 1919, a mass movement that stunned China and other parts of the world broke out on the Chinese mainland - the May Fourth Movement. It was during this time that a remote village of Minnan Ravine named “Stone Village” came back with a 30-year-old young man. He came from the Philippines, known as the Nanyang, called Ye Sunwei. In order for the two sons to bear in mind their own “roots” in China and let them embrace the influence of Chinese culture when they were young, he returned his son to his ancestral home - Jintao Township, Nanan, Fujian.
