Objective To understand the effect of low concentration ammonia on the health status of workers through the investigation of ammonia working environment and contact personnel. Methods A total of 147 ammonia workers and 137 office workers were surveyed, the ammonia concentration of the working environment was tested, and the effect of low concentration ammonia on workers' health was analyzed. Results The abnormal rate of lung function in ammonia job post was higher than that in control group. The incidence of sore throat, cough, dizziness and other symptoms were higher than those in control group. The increase of urinary urea was more than that of control group (all P < 0.01). Conclusions The long-term exposure of workers to low concentrations of ammonia has a worrying effect on health, suggesting that occupational health management in workplaces should be strengthened to enhance the personal protection of ventilation and operating personnel.
