Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) has a strong correlation with HLA-B27, but the pathogenesis remains unclear. The study found that self-antigens derived from collagen and non-joint proteins can cause specific T cell responses. Studies on the crystal structure of B27 and antigenic peptide complexes show that B27 binds antigenic peptide with specificity and plasticity, and different subtypes have different binding characteristics.
