At the end of February this year, when I handled the UN peacekeeping forces press card in the Belgrade Department of Public Information building, I was deeply attracted by a “business card wall” in the office. More than a square meter wall on the place covered with foreign journalists left in this card business cards, roughly as many as 400 sheets. In mid-March, I went to Zagreb in the Croatian capital for an interview. At the press office at the UN peacekeeping headquarters, I learned that more than 800 foreign journalists have been registered there and that there are still a few people who come to apply in succession. In other words, more than 1,000 foreign journalists have been to the Balkans in the last three years to interview the conflicts in the former Yugoslavia.
