《世界电影》的前身是《电影艺术译丛》,它是一本有着较长历史的介绍外国电影资料的理论性刊物。自从1981年下半年改变刊名以来,除了继续努力译介有参考借鉴价值的外国电影理论、技巧、创作经验、新片和人物介绍,以及有一定代表性的电影剧本外,还刊登了一些我们自己的专业工作者撰写的研究外国电影的文章,在扩大眼界、活跃思想和丰富知识方面做了一些工作,也起了一定的作用,但由于种种原因,肯定还与现实要求有很大差距。今天,在学习、宣传、贯彻党的第十二次全国代表大会精神之际,本刊特约请电影界的老前辈、艺术家、评论家和研究家们举行一次笔谈,畅谈十二大的伟大胜利,同时对如何进一步开展世界电影的介绍和研究工作发表意见。遗憾的是由于各种原因,还有许多本已邀请的同志未能请到。今后我们将根据这些宝贵的意见来考虑改进刊物的工作。我们将遵照毛主席提出的“洋为中用”的方针,批判地借鉴外国,要象鲁迅所说的“拿来主义”,有挑选、有辨别地把一些对发展我国民族电影确有裨益的东西拿过来,同时要特别注意精神污染的问题,通过加强对外国电影的研究,做到取其精华,去其糟粕,这样对繁荣我国电影事业或许能起些积极作用。总之,我们编辑部的同志们都满怀信心和决心要把这份刊物办得既有理论水平,而又结合 The predecessor of “World Film” is “Movie Art Collection”, which is a theoretical publication with a long history of introducing foreign films.
