‘翡脆’由实生变异选育而来荔枝新品种,与草莓荔属于姐妹种。果实球形,果皮青绿色,果肉白蜡色,肉质爽脆、细致、清香;平均单果质量24.32g,最大单果质量36g;焦核率91.30%,可食率78.70%。可溶性固形物含量18.3%,可溶性糖14.56%,可滴定酸0.1%,维生素c含量13.41mg·g-1;品质中上。果实生育期70d,在茂名地区(E110°57′,N21°51′)6月中下旬成熟。‘翡脆’采收期长,同一株树采收期长达一个月。‘翡脆’作为接穗与‘黑叶’、‘白蜡’、‘白糖罂’、‘妃子笑’、‘怀枝’等品种具有良好的嫁接亲和性。适合广东大部分荔枝产区栽培,在成年树上高接换种后第2~3年开花结果,丰产稳产。
