Objective To investigate the characteristics of executive function in children with Tourette’s syndrome. Methods The visual memory test, fluency test, color interference test and Wisconsin card classification test were used to test the working memory, attention inhibition, cognitive flexibility, planning and determination in 53 children with Tourette’s syndrome and 51 normal children respectively Potential transfer capabilities and many other executive functions, and to compare. Results The results of Tourette syndrome in children with Tourette syndrome were significantly lower than those in normal children (both P <0.01) in immediate and delayed graphics memory, three fluency tests, characters interference test and Wisconsin card classification test. Conclusions Children with Tourette syndrome have a diminished ability of working memory, which may impair the ability of sustained attention and reaction inhibition, cognitive flexibility, thinking organization, planning and transfer of potential.
