作者扼要而全面地论述了广州市城市规划信息系统的建设实施，即一个已投入使用的为提高城市规划管理与设计操作的具有空间数据库支持和可以运行在互联网技术环境之上的城市信息系统。作者着重强调了该系统自身的技术特点，如：理论与方法体系、图形数据库、数据的标准化和规范化、系统集成、数据共享与数据保护以及工程模式与自主版权。作者最后给出了系统中几项富有特色的典型应用：城市大比例尺正射影像图、城市总体（分区）规划信息系统、城市地下管线信息系统和辅助规划设计CAD。
The author briefly and comprehensively discusses the construction and implementation of Guangzhou’s urban planning information system, that is, an urban information system that has been put into use to improve urban planning management and design operations with spatial database support and can run on the Internet technology environment. The author emphasizes the technical characteristics of the system itself, such as: theory and method system, graphic database, standardization and standardization of data, system integration, data sharing and data protection, engineering mode and independent copyright. Finally, the author gives several typical applications in the system, including large-scale orthographic map of city, planning system of urban overall (zoning), information system of urban underground pipeline and CAD of auxiliary planning.
