The authors studied the relationship between erythrocyte sedimentemia (ESR) and prognosis in 193 patients (aged 28-95 years) with renal cell carcinoma between 1974 and 1980. Among 193 patients with renal cell carcinoma, 71 had cancer metastasis, including 42 cases. Metastasis and 112 cases without metastasis were nephrectomized. Another 18 metastases were given chemotherapy and 10 were given radiotherapy. Results: The 5-year survival rate of 39% of the 193 patients was 5-year survival rate of 1% of metastatic patients. No metastases were found in 63%. When the ESR was less than or equal to, and greater than 15 mm/hr, the 5-year survival rate of non-metastatic patients was 100% and 59%, respectively (P<0.001). When ESR was less than or equal to 30 mm/hour, there were The 1-year survival rate of the metastasis is 59%. When the ESR is higher than 30 mm/hour, the 1-year survival rate is 14%.
