In the 1980s, when the surrounding Pearl River Delta made great achievements in reform and opening up, Dawang seized a rare opportunity for development because of institutional constraints. In the early 1990s, in the face of pressures and challenges from the surrounding economy, Dawang stepped out System of traps and accelerated by leaps and bounds, and achieved great success.In the period from 1993 to 1996, the social output value of the district averaged an annual increase of 21.2%. The annual growth rate of total industrial output value is 26.3%, the average annual growth rate of the added value of the tertiary industry is as high as 153.1%.
