近年来地质工作中的采样方法有了显著的进步,例如刻槽采样法的推行对矿床品位的评价有了根本性的保证,但采样法无论如何精确,如果采样长度的代表性、品位计算方法、试样破碎加工、层间夹层处理等方法采用不当时,也会影响采样的精确性.目前在厚层矿床采样长度处理方法上还存在一些问题,如对采样长度不考虑层理与地形关系,一律依自然曲线把2~4公尺当作一个采样单位.而厚层矿床一般是露天开采,在露天开采中往往是拉开水平采矿段,而不是沿自然曲面剥层采矿的.因而自然曲线长度无论是局部的或整体的,均不能代表真正样品长度,从图1可知:
