Objective To investigate the relationship between drinking status and blood lipid in male hypertensive population in rural Lianyungang and its influencing factors. Methods Epidemiological survey was conducted in rural area of Lianyungang in May 2008. The drinking status and other related variables of subjects were collected through questionnaires. Laboratory total cholesterol (TCHO), triglyceride (TG) ), And high density lipoprotein (HDL-C). Lowdensity lipoprotein (LDL-C) was calculated by the Friedewald formula. The association between alcohol intake and blood lipid was evaluated by multivariate linear regression. Results 5747 male subjects were included in the analysis. After adjusting for age, body mass index, blood pressure, blood glucose, smoking, physical strength, compared with non-drinkers, drinkers now have higher total cholesterol (β = 15.58, sx- = 1.30, P <0.001) (β = 8.01, sx- = 0.43, P <0.001), and low density lipoprotein (β = 7.71, sx- = 1.17, = 1.88, P = 0.704) There was no significant difference between groups. There was a stronger association between alcohol consumption and total cholesterol (interaction P <0.001 for non-diabetic subjects) and elevated LDL-C (interaction P = 0.001 for the diabetic population). Conclusions There is a significant positive correlation between drinking alcohol and total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein and low density lipoprotein, but no significant difference with triglyceride.
