1在《别尔金小说集》中,通常最能激起我感情狂澜的是那篇《驿站长》.每每读罢,心头总会充溢着对萨姆松·维林的哀怜,替他痛心难过,而且随着我年岁的增长,这种感受似乎变得分外强烈.内中还掺和着某种莫可名状的心绪,这是超于小说文字之外的东西,它给人留下永恒的悲凉,一种既甜蜜又揪心的悲凉.换句话说,仿佛还有一股剪不断的余味,它无所依附、无从解释、也无法领悟.纵然小说那貌似平和的结尾,也无法冲淡这种悲凉,反而使它愈益浓重.
