由于水稻旱地育秧具有秧苗素质好,秧龄弹性大,抗寒能力强的优势。在我国北方已迅速推广,取得了良好的经济效益。农业部于1991年7月9～10日邀请南方11个省（区）的部分专家和代表在湖南召开“南方水稻生产长沙现场会”,推广这项新技术。1992年早春,我们在福州郊区鼓山乡进行该项试验,结果初报如下:
