Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875) is a famous 19th century Danish fairy tale writer, known as “the sun of world children’s literature.” He was born in a poor shoemaker family in Odense, where his father died and his mother remarried. Andersen, who loved literature since he was 14, went to Copenhagen to pursue art alone. After graduating from college, Andersen barely survived manuscripts. In 1833, the novel “Impromptu Poet” finally won him an international reputation as a masterpiece of his adult literature.
