宪法之下的天皇制虽然已经从战前的神权天皇制转换为现在的象征天皇制,但象征天皇制之下的天皇所具有的“神格”与“人格”的冲突,以及由此产生的对日本宪政的解释中的民族主义和自由主义的冲突,依然对现今的日本政治与社会及其未来的发展方向产生重大影响。天皇制对日本社会而言是一种仪式性、宗教性要素,由此不断地酝酿、强化历史地形成的民族性的国民意识。
