The Upper Triassic Xujiahe Formation in the northwestern Sichuan Basin is dominated by continental coal-bearing clastic sediments and is one of the key horizons in oil and gas exploration. Explore the oil source, in addition to consider its own local oil production, especially its saddle pond and Xiaotangzi under the system of geochemical studies, valuation of its potential of hydrocarbon generation. For this reason, we systematically collected samples and analyzed and tested various organic matters on the basis of predecessor’s sedimentology study from 1979 to 1980. Hanwang Saddle Tong and Xiaotangzi Section section, located in the middle section of the Longmenshan piedmont depression, Hanwang inverted syncline to the north wing, north of Guanyinyan, south to Shu
