This article discusses the corrosion of metals and the selection of corrosion resistant alloys in hydrogen chloride, chlorine and hydrochloric acid solutions. Several new nickel-based alloys were tested. Corrosion rates of these alloys were all less than 0.4 mm / year at 500 ° C in an aqueous hydrogen chloride atmosphere.
