目前被广泛使用的立轴式钻机(如KA——2M—300,—500,—150等型),其立轴钻杆卡盘均为顶丝式的。在钻进过程中,必须多次的,重复地进行松弛和拧紧持盘顶丝的工作,这不仅加重了工人的体力劳动,而且大大的降低了纯钻进时间,特别在软质岩石或机械钻速高的岩石中钻进时,花费在松、紧持盘顶丝上的时间更多。因此,寻求较合理的解决的途径,其意义是极大的。鑑于这种情况,238勘探队的同志们,设计并试验成功了一种新型自动持盘,为解决上述问题提供了有利的条件。
