崔如琢先生少年时代是北京故宫博物院绘画馆的常客,那时他就迷醉于中国古典绘画艺术,临摹过不少古代经典作品。青年时代,他进入中央美院附中学习,后来又从事美术教育,曾任教于中央工艺美术学院,上世纪80年代初赴美定居。我看过崔先生17岁时的一幅作品,画的是兰石。作品灵气逼人,着实让我吃了一惊。而且其笔墨之放松与老到,笔势之穿插与飞舞,尽合法度,处处经得起推敲。我不禁产生了一个疑问：这是17岁的年轻人画的吗?我还看过崔先生18岁时画的一幅梅花,构图丰满,焦墨老干、润泽新枝别有神采,墨色对比中花朵内蕴着冰清之气。李苦禅老师看过这幅画以后对崔如琢说：“你已经大学毕业了。”并欣然命笔在画上题字,对其创作大加肯定：“笔墨气势颇正确,从此努力可矣。”青年时代的崔如琢利用在京华的优越条件,曾遍访名师请求指点迷津,李苦禅、李可染、郭味蕖等大家的口传身授使他获益匪浅。到美国后,他的作品也颇受彼国人
