For quite a Long period, the translation and publication of contemporary Chinese Literature have only been active in ivory towers Like universities and professional research institutions. In recent ten years since the beginning of the new century, the situation has reformed profoundly and contemporary Chinese Literature develops so rapidly that it gradually becomes popular common readers in European and American societies. It has become a window for Western people to Learn about Chinese society.
The most influential translations of Chinese literature in 2014 In recent years, the number of Chinese Literature theme books (including books written in foreign Languages and translations) published in the world keeps more than 700 every year, nearly two varieties every day. Based on the search results of OCLC (Online Computer Library Center, Inc) of global Library collection data, the number of Chinese Literature translations published abroad has reached over 100 varieties in 2014. 112 countries and regions in the world have been in the range searching, including more than 20,000 Libraries, over 470 Languages. According to the influence ranking (given the condition that only the book collected by over 30 libraries can be counted in, the number of Library included in accounts for about l/100), it is found there are 20 most influential contemporary Chinese Literary translations (including Hong Kong and Taiwan) in 2014.See the table.
Twenty translations of Chinese Literature Listed in the above table can be regarded as representatives of Chinese Literature in the world Literature circles. It contains both classical and modern masterpieces, including Romance of the Three Kingdoms, poems by Li Shangyin of the Tang dynasty, and Mirage, a novel created in the Oing dynasty, popular works by contemporary pure Literature writers including Mo Yan, Mai Jia, Tie Ning,Yu Hua and Can Xue,works by the younger generation such as GuoXiaolu and Sheng Keyi, as well as the science fiction of Liu Cixin, a domestic young writer.
