1900年,义和团运动爆发并蔓延了中国北方地区,在南方却出现了相对平静的情形,以两江总督刘坤一、湖广总督张之洞为首的东南诸省督抚和各国驻沪领事议定了“东南互保”条款,以此来阻止义和团的南下。本文认为这一事件绝不是一个孤立、突兀的事件,其有着深刻的经济根源,出自于东南督抚和西方列强的需要,也是当时各种势力之间错综复杂矛盾的产物,是各方势力相机审势后“合力”的结果。
In 1900, the Boxer movement broke out and spread in northern China. In the south, however, relatively calm conditions emerged. Governors in the provinces of the southeastern provinces headed by Liu Kunyi, governor of the two rivers, and Zhang Zhidong, the governor of Huguango, and various consuls in Shanghai agreed that the “southeast Mutual guarantees ”clause, in order to prevent the boxers from going south. This article argues that this incident is by no means an isolated and abrupt incident. It has profound economic roots and comes from the needs of the southeastern governors and the western powers. It is also a result of the intricate contradictions between various forces at that time. After “joint force ” result.
