针对目前池塘养殖成鳗投资大、技术要求高的缺点,江苏东台市廉贻乡水产养殖场,在有关科技人员的指导下,刻苦攻关,探索出一条河沟网箱养鳗的新路子。所采用的双层网箱,每只容积1立方米。投放平均体重30克的鳗鱼苗100尾,网箱夹层中放养体重80克的鳊鱼,鳊鱼既可食鳗鱼吃剩的饵料,又可食用网箱周围的水草。3个多月时间,鳗鱼体重达350～450克,鳊鱼平均体重850克,每只网箱可产鳗鱼30公斤,鳊鱼15公斤,纯收入600元以上。
