Journal of the American Medical Association, Vol. 243, No. 18 (1980) reports that a 53-year-old woman in New York West was the first patient to first vaporize deep malignant brain tumors with CO2 laser technology and has resumed normal activities. And after 5 months of treatment, the situation is still good. Patients suffer from headaches due to increased intracranial pressure. There is metastatic adenocarcinoma in her right medial frontal lobe. Despite extensive exploration, primary tumors have not been found. Dr. Patrick JKelly, associate professor of neurosurgery at the State University of New York at Buffalo Medical School and chief neurosurgeon at the Erie County Medical Center, performed a 4-hour operation at the center for this patient.
