Polyshenko and Lizzonov, Institute of Mineralogy, Geochemistry and Rare-Earth Crystallization Chemistry of the Soviet Academy of Sciences, recently studied the distribution of scandium and niobium in wolframite. Following the publication of their findings in Geochemistry, published in the third issue of the Institute in 1958, No. 3, this article was published in the sixth issue of the same year. The objects of the study, including 350 wolframite samples from 48 deposits in the Soviet Union, were as follows: 1. In the vast majority of high-temperature gas-hydrothermal dolomitic and quartz-dolostone-type wolframite Mine containing scandium and niobium. However, there are exceptions to the rule that niobium is not present in scandium wolframite, but in limited quantities. 2. In some mero-hydrothermal deposits, wolframite contains only niobium, and sometimes neither element is present.
