Lu Xun attaches great importance to money, never pretend to be high. In Lu Xun’s diary, he carefully remembered almost every sum of his income. His income comes mainly from three aspects: salary, lecture fee, royalties. The latter two are uncertain, so he values a fixed salary. He can get 300 oceans monthly by the Ministry of Education. At that time, the minimum standard of living for Beijing citizens was two or three oceans. The purchasing power of an ocean to buy basic goods is about 70-80 times one hundred yuan today. For example: According to Lao She’s memories, when Lao She was “advised students” - Education Branch Secretary, 100 yuan per month, primary school principal 40 yuan, 25 yuan primary school teachers, school attendants 6 yuan.
