垂枝桃是蔷薇科李属桃类树木,花有白、红、粉红之别,花期3—4月,烂熳芳菲,枝条自然下垂,婀娜多姿。人们美称其花有诗曰:“争开不待叶,密缀欲无枝”。 (一)取材制作垂枝桃盆景,多用毛桃实生苗为砧木(亦可用李、杏实生苗为砧木),把垂枝桃的枝或芽为接穗,在春季用切接或腹接等方法进行嫁接。本文中两件垂枝桃盆景;用二年生垂枝桃枝条,以毛桃为砧木嫁接成活后,经过6年培育而成的。
