Objective:To investigatetherelationshipbetweeninsulinaseactivityof erythrocytes(EIA)andinsulin resistanceinpatientswithtype2diabetesmellitus.Methods:EIAwas determinedwiththemethodof radioassayof enzymeactivityin65healthysubjects,and109patientswithtype2diabetesmellitusdividedinto3subgroupsac-cordingto theirtherapy andplasmaglucosecontrol.Fastingplasmainsulin(FINS)andotherrelatedindiceswereal-so measuredinallthesubjects.Moreover,insulinsensitiveindex(ISI)wascalculatedforestimationof insulinsensi-tivity.Re sults:EIAandFINSareincreasedin two subgroupsof diabeticpatientson hypoglycemics(subgroupA andsubgroupB),andespeciallyhigherinthepoorcontrolled subgroupof patients(subgroupA).EIAandFINSare normalinsubgroupof patientswithoutmedication(subgroupC).Moreover,ISIis decreasedin allthesubgroupsof patientsas comparedwithnormalsubjects.CorrelationanalysisshowthatEIAis inverselycorrelatedwithISIinall subgroupsof patientsandnormalsubjects,andpositivelycorrelatedwithFINSin normalsubjects.Conclusions:Therateof insulindegradationin erythrocytesis increasedin patientswithtype2diabetes,and increasedinsulin degradationmayresultintheirinsulin-resistantstate.Moreover,EIAmaybe usedas oneof theindicesforestima-tionof insulinsensitivity.

Coronarylation dysissiatEIAis inverselycorrelatedwithISIinall subgroupsof patientsandnormalsubjects, andpositivelycorrelatedwithFINSinnormalsubjects. Conclusions: The rate of insulin degradation in erythrocytesis increased in patients with type 2 diabetes, and increased insulin degradation mayresultintheirinsulin-resistant state. Moreover, EIA use of as one of theindicesforestima tion of insulin sensitivity.
