图上作业法是我国对线性规划这门学料的一个重大贡献,它的巨大优点在于掌握容易,操作简便;因而深受实际工作者的欢迎,正开始广泛地用起来为社会主义建设服务.但是这个方法原来的形式有着一定的局限性,它只能求出吨公里数最小的调运方案,当运价与里程不一定成比例时,要找运费最小的调运方案,图上作业法便不适用,而只有用较麻烦的表上作业法了.科学院数学研究所编“线性规划的理论及应用”一书第四章§1指出如何由图上作业法给出一个较好的初始调运方案,再用表上作业法求出最优方案,在那里仍是以图上作业法为辅,表上作业法为主来进行解决问题的.这篇文章的目的便在于发展“图上作业法”的方法,使它适用于运价与里程不成比例时的情况,甚至同一条路上不同方向的有不同的运价(如水上运输)时,也能适用.因此在物资调配,运输等实际问题中,图上作业法
