“Model storm ” is a famous event in the history of art education in China. In March 1914, Liu Haisu began to use mannequins to sketch at the Shanghai Academy of Art, but at that time only the boys were willing. And until July 20, 1920, appeared the first female mannequin. This behavior that runs counter to Chinese traditional ethics has aroused great social repercussions and is unprecedented in its popularity. Coincidentally, the 1980s, Nanjing Institute of the nude modeling events once again caused a great uproar. This article links two events, and look at social similarities and differences.
