Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a lentivirus that infects human immune system cells and causes Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS), the leading cause of AIDS pandemic. This article reviews the non-human primate models of HIV-1-infected chimpanzees and pekingese, SIV and SHIV-infected monkeys, stHIV-1 and HSIV-infected macaques, as well as HIV-1 infected chimeric mice, HIV- 1 infected rabbits and HIV-1-infected transgenic mice and other non-primate animal models, and analyzed the characteristics of various models. The progress of research on the racial barriers and key points of cross-species HIV-1 infection is also discussed. The progress of the cross-racial model of HIV-1 infection is analyzed in order to promote the pathogenesis of HIV-1 and the efficacy of the drug And vaccine preparation and other research.
