Plastic packaging made of chemical polymers alone is difficult to degrade in the natural environment. To reduce the environmental pollution caused by such materials, Russian researchers used agrochemical wastes mixed with chemical materials such as polyethylene to make polymer-based biocomposite packaging materials that naturally degrade in soils. Researchers at the Plekhanov University of Economics in Moscow reported in a new issue of the Netherlands Journal of Polymer and Environmental Science that they made lignocellulosic powder particles from sunflower seeds, wheat bran, and sawdust from wood. Granules are made from fibers of flax and wheat stalks and put in the above two types of granules
