In MPLS/GMPLS networks, path-based, end-to-end shared protection and restoration can not reach the high trade-off between service interruption time and resource utilization. To obtain this good trade-off, a novel pre-segmented sharing recovery scheme (PSSRS) is proposed. PSSRS will divide network into many segments beforehand and calculate backup path for every segment according to the segment granularity factor (SGF), which is edge-disjointed (ED). When failure occurs, it will select the nearest segment backup path, allocate resource and transfer the traffic of the work path. PSSRS can also use QoS constraints such as the bandwidth and maximum upper bound recovery time to optimize the performance of the network. The simulation results validate that the trade-off of PSSRS among resource efficiency, recovery time and successful recovery rate is better than other schemes.
