12Cr2MoWVTiB steel (referred to as 102 steel) is China’s own study of multi-element low-alloy heat-resistant steel, which replaced the austenitic high-alloy steel used to manufacture high-pressure boiler reheater and superheater generator. 102 steel has been put into industrial application for the first time, with an designed life of more than 100,000 hours. It has long-term working under the equivalent temperature of 594 ℃, pressure of 49MPa and flue gas burning coal, resulting in pipe explosion accident and economic loss. In this paper, through the study of the distribution of sulfur and oxygen in the wall of 102 steel pipe, the characteristics of high temperature corrosion of the steel pipe by flue gas and other media are revealed, which is of important reference for the study of failure mechanism.
