In 1998, fine arts activities are still lively. Following the return of heat to Hong Kong in ’97, the temperature has not diminished. As long as there are more art exhibitions in Beijing, one newspaper exclaims: “How about a thousand exhibitions?” Think about how incredible the national exhibitions are. Originally, everyone was looking forward to prosperity. In the face of numerous exhibitions, the seminar was available at all times. The book was flying in the sky and the “PEN Meeting” went by one after another. The status quo where various kinds of “Organizing Committee” seals were visible everywhere turned people into suspicion. Not the kind of prosperity we want. Some people simply say that this is “bubble.”
