1913年春的一天,寄居在长沙城湘乡会馆里的毛泽东,没有像往日那样到三华里外的湖南省立图书馆去看书,他决定从今天起结束自己半年来的自修生活。放弃自修计划,离开那个宽大幽静的阅览室,摆脱那些还来不及浏览、咀嚼的书籍的诱惑,对于有着强烈求知欲望和一心探寻真理的青年毛泽东来说,实在出于无奈。父亲反对儿子自修,采取了强硬态度,断绝了对毛泽东经济上的供给。读书的热情毕竟代替不了付房租,况且最近湘乡会馆里,住满了退役兵、学生、过路客和闲荡汉。这里的夜晚变得不安宁了。会馆是不能住下去了,毛泽东必须尽快给自己找一个新的去处。去干什么呢?他开始翻阅近期的报纸,
