徽州文书是指在皖南旧徽州府一域发现、由徽州人手写的文献。从数量上看,徽州遗存有目前所知国内为数最多的民间文书,其规模在迄今发现的各类地域文书中首屈一指。而从内容上看,除了狭义的契约文书~①之外,徽州文书还包含日记、书信(包括原件、信底及活套)、账册、杂抄(或亦称“碎锦”、“杂录”)、启蒙读物、日用类书和诉讼案卷等。由于徽州“贾而好儒”的传统,因商业发达滋生出极为浓厚的契约意识,以及凡事必记、有闻必录的日常生活习惯,使得徽州文书的种类
