萧红小说《后花园》的叙事方式极有特色,她在借鉴传统话本小说叙事框架的同时,成功利用“儿童视角”和“成人视角”的转换来刻画人物,营造了越说越心酸、越说越悲凉的艺术氛围。同时,她也很关注民间信仰对普通人生活的影响,“大灯花”和“白虎神”等情节的设置,就是基于这种思考,可惜却被一些批评家认为是败笔。《后花园》自然也有不足,最显著的是萧红和小说人物相知并不深,因而刻画还欠深刻。
