1984年湖南地矿局468队在隆回县箍脚底煤矿区,选用??75毫米绳索取心钻具并配用相应的聚晶人造金刚石钻头,在三叠纪与二叠纪灰岩中进行深孔钻进,获得了较好的经济效果. 所钻岩层主要是三叠纪大冶灰岩,可钻性4～5级,节理发育,常呈碎片状,总厚度约750米;其次还有二叠纪上统长兴灰岩,为薄层及中厚层硅质灰岩类,局部有硅质岩、燧石层,节理发育,可钻性7～9级,总厚度约100米.
