国族身份乃后殖民文学关注焦点之一。而对它的批评虽然褒贬不一,但方法基本采取二元论。本文通过分析小说题目关于民族身份隐喻,以及两位主人公国族身份认同变迁,来阐释麦克·翁达特杰的《英国病人》是如何颠覆二元论对国族身份的价值判断,即,在解构身份认同的同时,又重构它存在的价值。
National identity is one of the focuses of post-colonial literature. Although the criticisms of it are mixed, the method basically adopts dualism. This article attempts to explain how Max Utdatjie’s “English patient” subverts the value judgment of dualism on national identity by analyzing the theme of the novel about national identity metaphors and the changing of national identity of the two protagonists. That is, Identity at the same time, it reconstructs the value of its existence.
