近年来,随着博物馆信息化建设进程的不断加快,越来越多的博物馆计划或正在建设自己的网站。博物馆行业已经意识到网络的虚拟平台与现实中的实体博物馆二者之间相互补充,相互促进的关系,博物馆要全方位发挥其收藏、保护、研究、展示的功能,为观众提供全方位服务就要充分挖掘互联网络的独特优势,冲破传统服务观念的限制,建立一个以观众为中心,并能够满足其需求的信息浏览服务平台。通过分析大多数博物馆的网站,我们发现目前博物馆网站实现的功能还比较单一,主要还只是以形象展示、藏品介绍、通知公告等内容为主,与真正意义上的信息网络化还有一定的差距。主要表现在以下几个方面:
