In July this year, the Chinese Overseas Chinese Historical Society held its second member congress and the third symposium in Beijing. More than 100 scholars from the Middle-aged and the Overseas Chinese in 15 provinces, cities and autonomous regions came together to discuss the new turning point of overseas Chinese history. The atmosphere was exceptionally warm. The congress summarized and exchanged the research work and achievements of overseas Chinese history since the founding of the People’s Republic of China in late 1981; elected the second leading institution of the Institute; and focused on the changes and trends of overseas Chinese and Chinese since the Second World War.
