Myocardial dysfunction is important, but seldom considered part of septic shock, this article examines the morphological and biological abnormalities associated with septic shock. Cardiomyocytes are incubated in the normal environment while septic plasma is incubated in an environment controlled by nutrients, oxygen, pH, electrolytes and temperature. Electron microscopy studies were done at the end of incubation, with the result that the levels of septic plasma LDH and creatine kinase increased in the culture medium, while the levels of cAMP in septic plasma were significantly reduced. Septic cells beat irregularly and are co-inhibited with abnormal electron microscopy structures. The onset of myofascial dysfunction does not depend on what was assumed before in laboratory control and therefore may be due to endogenous
