我画藏区风情题材的绘画至今己近50个年头,但我第一次接触西藏纯属偶然。那是1960年春天,我还是中央美院油画系吴作人工作室五年级学生,正在准备毕业创作,忽然接到学院通知,让我参加首都文艺界慰问团去西藏半年。那时拉萨刚刚平息叛乱开始民主改革,街上还能见到不少过去农奴制度下民生凋蔽的历史痕迹,市区脏乱不堪,民居又旧又破,到处可见乞食为生的帐 I have painted paintings of Tibetan style themes for almost 50 years now, but my first contact with Tibet was purely accidental. That was the spring of 1960, and I was a fifth-grader at Wu Zuoren Studio of the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. I was preparing for graduation and was suddenly informed by the college that I would attend the visit to the cultural and art circles in the capital for six months. At that time, Lhasa had just begun to quell the rebellion and started democratic reforms. Many historical traces of the people’s livelihood under the past serf system were still seen in the streets. The urban areas were in turmoil, and the dilapidated houses were broken again and again.
