开国大典前夜还在赶制毛主席画像被誉为“国家形象设计师”的周令钊,在当年中央美术学院有着构思快、动作快的“快手周”称号。1949年开国大典前,当有关部门将绘制毛主席巨幅画像的任务落实到中央美术学院时,这个最佳人选就落在了实用美术系年轻教员周令钊身上。1948年春,被北平国立艺术专科学校(中央美术学院前身)校长徐悲鸿招入麾下的最年轻讲师周令钊,之前已多次在中央许多重要会议会场布置中绘制过毛主席画像。
On the eve of the founding of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Chairman Mao’s portrait was also chased by Zhou Lingzhao, who was hailed as “the national image designer.” In the same year the Central Academy of Fine Arts had the title of “Quick Hand Week” with quick ideas and fast movements. Before the founding ceremony of 1949, when the relevant departments implemented the task of drawing Chairman Mao’s giant portraits into the Central Academy of Fine Arts, the best candidate fell on the young teacher Zhou Lingzhao of the Practical Art Department. In the spring of 1948, Zhou Lingzhao, the youngest lecturer under the command of the Central Academy of Fine Arts (predecessor of the Central Academy of Fine Arts), was recruited by President Xu Beihong at Peking’s National Art College (formerly Central Academy of Fine Arts). On many occasions, he painted the portrait of Chairman Mao in the arrangement of many important convention venues in the Central Government.
